Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Italian group Maflow, specialised in manufacturing flexible devices and circuits of air-conditioning for motor vehicles, announced on 29 November 2006 that Maflow France will cut between 100 and 200 jobs. The job cuts are expected to take place between January 2007 and December 2008. Maflow France currently employs 420 worker in its factory in Chartres (Eure and Loire). Renault and Peugeot SA are among Maflow's main clients. The sales of cars have fallen in the last months and manufacturers do not expect an increase again in the near future.
As a result of this, Maflow France has made the decision to cut 100 jobs in 2007 and 100 more in 2008.
