Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The commercial court of Epinal (Vosges) announced on 28 November 2006 that Nomexy, the cotton factory, is bankrupt and it to be closed. The company employed 103 people, most of them women.
In the last three years the company has undergone a very difficult financial situation in spite of a 12 million euro investment in 2005 for new machines to produce compact cotton wire with strong added value.
