Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 12 November 2006, Conergy, a German supplier of machinery systems in the area of regenerative energy, photovoltaic modules and optical tools (lenses), announced its plans to set up a new plant in Frankfurt (Oder). Between 500 and 600 jobs will be created until the summer of 2007. By the summer of 2008 the workforce is expected to increase to approximately 1,000 employees.
The job creation scheme is part of the expansion strategy of the company. Conergy wants to double its revenues within the next business years. The company currently employs 1,334 people in Germany.
