Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Semiconductor company Infineon Technologies announced on 26 October 2006 its plans to cut 400 jobs worldwide in its communication sector of which 200 jobs shall be cut at its German sites in München, Nürnberg and Salzgitter.
This was said to be a consequence of the bankruptcy of BenQ which negatively affected Infineons business. To avoid redundancies the company said it is trying to find jobs for the employees affected at other sites of the company as well as in outsourced subsidiaries.
