Description
Up to 120 jobs could be lost at a Kent magazine publisher after it announced plans to sell off or close five of its 18 publications.
Nexus Media Communications, based in Swanley, employs 230 staff but is only planning to retain 110. Chief executive Neil Thackeray said he hoped many would be able to keep working for its publications or find other work within the company. He said everything was being done to minimise the number of redundancies. Mr Thackeray said that a period of consultation, which could take up to 30 days, was currently being undertaken with employees.
'During that time we will be dealing with all sorts of issues, like how we can find alternative employment for people, if they are going to transfer to other employers, and how that works and how we can protect their interests,' he said.
