Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 24 October 2006, Ateliers Thomé-Génot (ATG), a manufacturer of alternators for cars, was declared bakrupt by a commercial court. The company, employing 300 people, will close down at the end of October 2006. ATG is suffering from the crisis affecting automobile subcontractors in France. In 2004, ATG had been acquired by the American consultancy Catalina, which is currently subject to a legal investigation on embezzlement.
As reported, France has applied for assistance from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF).
