Description
More than 500 posts are to go at Northamptonshire County Council over the next three years under new proposals outlined by the authority.
Up to 300 office buildings could also be closed in order to save a total of 10 million GBP a year. Council leader Jim Harker said duplication of work which can be slimmed down had been identified. A report claims government cash to the county will be 715 million GBP short due to population growth by 2021.
Leader of the Conservative-run council Jim Harker said: "We knew the nature of the county's growth but this independent report clearly shows the size of the challenges we are facing."
The proposals have been criticised by the Labour group.
