Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The American automobile equipment supplier, Visteon, announced on 17 October 2006 the cut of 314 jobs in the factory of Charleville Mézières between October 2007 and December 2007. The management of Visteon, who used to be Ford's first supplier, refused to give more details because negotiations with unions, who opposed this decision, are under way.
The factory of Charleville Mézières (Ardennes) manufactures systems of air-conditioning and currently employs 1,200 people, including 200 temporary employees.
