Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Canadian group Quebecor announced on 12 October 2006 its plans to close its printing activity in Hellemmes in the suburbs of Lille in June 2007. All 230 employees will lose their jobs. Trade union representatives are surprised at the scale of the plans, saying that in March the company had merely said that production would be reduced by 25%.
Quebecor World, which employs around 29,000 staff in total, is the world's largest printing group.
