Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
A spokesman of the Zwanenberg Food Group announced on 5 October 2006 that approximately 110 jobs will be scrapped. 103 of the jobs will be lost in Oss (North-Brabant). All activities will be transferred to Borculo, Almelo and Borne in the East of the Netherlands. The remaining seven jobs will be lost in Borne. According to the spokesman, one of the reasons was the so called “Laurus-effect”. The supermarket-group Laurus was one of the major customers of the plant in Oss, and has seen major reorganisations itsef in the past two years. Furthermore, overcapacity was mentioned as a reason for the reorganisation.
