Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The French National Railways (Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Français, SNCF) organized the 'Forum of Evry', a metting with young people on 10 October 2006, where it announced that it will recruit 500 young people in 2007. The forum gives young people (educational level between 'baccalaureat' and Master) to get to know about the company and leave their contact details to the Human Resources department in order to be called at a latter stage to pass some tests. The SNCF, as other French companies, is expecting to hire many new employees in the coming years to replace the people from the 'baby-boom generation', who are retiring. The SNCF employs 180,000 people.
