Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 4 October 2006 Finland based paper, packaging, and forest products multinational Stora Enso has announced its intention to close down Reisholz Mill in Germany with 378 employees. The planned closure is subject to local consultation.
Reisholz Mill, which is part of Stora Enso's Publication Paper division, is planned to be closed in phases by the end of 2007. The intention to close the mill is based on its lack of profitability the company said. Stora Enso has various subsidiaries in Germany with a total of 5,800 employees.
