Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Delphi announced on 31 January 2006 a restructuring programme. On 6 October 2006, US car parts manufacturer Delphi announced that Delphi Douai is to cut 330 jobs by the end of 2007 at its site in Douai in the north of France. A spokesperson confirmed that production at the site would be shut down in two stages, in April and August 2007. Management explained that the decision was down to a fall in demand for compressors and tough competition. Delphi will work on ways to re-industrialise the site. Trade union explained that the negotiations will be mainly over the amount of redundancy pay.
