Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
A Derbyshire mattress manufacturer will cut around 90 jobs before the end of the year. Elson and Robbins is closing its Pocket Spring division. At present around 250 people are employed by the firm and its sister company, Wade, on the Bennett Road site in Long Eaton. The plant and equipment is being sold to another firm in Yorkshire. Elson and Robbins said it would try to find other jobs for those being made redundant.
