Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Italian company Badinotti, one of the largest producers of nets for industry and sports, decided to relocate its production to Slovakia. Badinotti will invest more than SKK 150 million in order to increase its competitiveness in the world market, especially against Asian producers. According to Badinotti Slovakia's CEO Paolo Tizzoni, company management decided for Slovakia because of its suitable geographic location, availability of cheap workforce and a favourable business environment. Badinotti's nets production technology is rather labour demanding and around 190 new jobs will be created in the new production plant. Badinotti plans to produce more nets there than in Italy. The company management would like to achieve an annual turnover of about SKK 500 million in the new subsidiary. The company has not asked for any state aid yet.
