Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Novembal Group, the leading manufacturer in France of plastic caps for mineral water bottles, announced on 12 September 2006 that the factory of Novembal Les Chères will cut 100 jobs from 15 September 2006 on.
Novembal Les Chères, which employs 160 people, presented its plan to the trade unions. This is the result of the financial troubles the factory has been going through recently. The plan regards the transfer of the activity to the Novembal factory in the west from France (Châteaubriant), where currently 110 employees work. It is intended that 60 employees from the closing factory in Les Chères could be employed in the next months, but this is still unclear at the moment.
