Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 7 September 2006, one of the leading computer companies, Fujitsu Siemens, announced its intention to cut 300 jobs in Germany within the next year in response to a narrow market and declining sales. In this sense, sales declined by 4% in the second quarter of 2006 compared to 2005. Fujitsu Siemens employs around 6,800 persons worldwide. Information on which departments will be concerned is not available.
