Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
A printing company based in Norwich for almost 200 years is to close with the loss of 286 jobs. New Jarrold Printing went into administration in August after it had struggled financially since a management buy-in in 2004. Its largest customer, a publisher of colour magazines, has now cancelled contracts because of the uncertainty. Administrator Stephen Oldfield from Pricewaterhouse Coopers told staff on Monday night the company would close.
