Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Eltek Energy SA from Norway decided to invest in Slovakia. The company invested around SKK 100 million and currently opens a new production plant Eltek Energy Slovakia in Liptovský Hrádok. The new plant will produce back-up power supply units for telecommunications. Eltek management decided to establish its new subsidiary in that region because of its strategic location. Another reason which played an important role in the decision, according to Eltek CEO Morten F. Angelil, is the local labour force which is qualified for the telecommunication industry. Almost all production will be exported, initially to the European countries and later on also to USA. In total 150 new jobs were created there till September 2006, and the company management plans to employ 100 people more till the end of 2007.
Nera Company, which is a member of Eltek Energy SA holding decided to invest in Liptovský Hrádok, too. It will extend the production of Eltek Energy Slovakia operating there. Around 300 next new jobs will be created there till the end of 2007.
