Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 21 August 2006 Smurfit Kappa, a packaging company, announced that it will close its factory in Neede. As a consequence, 100 jobs will be lost. The production will be transferred to other establishments of the group in the Netherlands. Some of the employees in Neede may be transferred to these other establishments as well, even though this has not been confirmed.
