Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Suchard, part of Kraft Foods France, announced on 4 September 2006 the reduction of the number of employees in its manufacturing plant of chocolate in the east of France (Strasbourg). The site, that currently employs 380 people, will shed 123 jobs between October 2006 and December 2007 as a result of a remarkable decrease in production. In this sense, in 2006 10,000 tonnes of chocolate were produced as opposed to 15,000 tonnes in 2003.
