Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The American biotechnology company, Genzyme (whose products and services are focused on rare inherited disorders, kidney disease, orthopaedics, transplant and immune disease, cancer, and diagnostic testing) currently employs more than 8,500 employees worldwide. On 1 September 2006, the company announced that 120 new jobs will be created soon at the Geel plant, which currently employs around 180 people.
