Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
According to Handelsblatt, temporary work agency Manpower Germany is in search of 3,000 employees to fill job openings for temporary workers and has in some cases recruited abroad to fill job openings for engineers. Manpower expects a market growth of 15% within the upcoming years. In 2005, Manpower Germany employed about 16,500 temporary employees and an internal staff of 1,000.
The market for temporary work agency has been expanding by 16% in 2005 and is seen to grow by up to 15 to 18% in 2006, according to the Association of temporary work agencies, Bundesverband Zeitarbeit.
According to the Federal Employment Agency, the temporary work industry employed about 375,300 persons in 2005. Temporary agency employees are covered by a framework collective bargaining agreement.
