Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Banque Populaire Loire et Lyonnais, a bank employing 1,000 people in the province of Rhône-Alpes, has announced to the trade unions its plans to cut between 15% and 20% of jobs before January 2009. The 150-200 job cuts (only pensioners) are part of an internal restructuring plan by which the bank has decided not to replace retiring employees for the next 3 years.
