Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Finnish flag carrier Finnair has announced that they start to recruit 100 new pilots and 300 new flight attendants during current and next year. Additionally, the company will offer permanent employment to 200 fixed term cabin crew employees.
The airline said that increased traffic with Asia required significant investments in cabin crew numbers. The growing Asian traffic has also increased the number of passengers in European routes from Helsinki.
At present Finnair employs 666 pilots and co-pilots and around 1,600 cabin staff. Total number of personnel is 9,700. In June, Finnair announced it was to cut 670 jobs in subsidiaries and support functions due to restructuring.
