Description
Redfearn Glass, a glass factory in Barnsley that makes bottles and jars, is to cut 120 jobs as part of a production cut to increase competitiveness. The firm, that employs 700, will close one of its furnaces in November. The company said it was struggling to fight off competition, particularly from a big new plant operating in Cheshire. Spokesman Simon Morgan said no further redundancies were planned but the firm could not make any assurances. He added that this uncertainty was due to volatile market conditions.
