Description

The Bulgarian subsidiary of Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company (HBC) said it will phase out production operations in Plovdiv, relocating them to its bottling plant in the city of Kostinbrod, in the Sofia area. The plant will be furnished with new-generation equipment. It is emerging as the company’s most modern production facility in Bulgaria, which is certified under ISO 9001 and ISO 14000.

The relocation, with an undisclosed cost, is expected to be completed in early 2007.

The relocation starts with the shutdown of bottling operations in Plovdiv and 100 workers are to be dismissed. Coca-Cola HBC will keep the administrative units that deal with distribution, marketing and finance in the city.

Coca-Cola HBC entered the Bulgarian market in 1992 and has so far invested over 170 million euro here and at the representative office of Coca-Cola Co.

The company operates bottling facilities in Kostinbrod, Plovdiv and Targovishte and 11 distribution centers. In total, Coca-Cola employes about 1000 people in Bulgaria.
