In July 2006, India`s third largest IT service provider Wipro Ltd announced the intention to invest up to USD 250 million in setting up a new facility in Bucharest. "We are setting up a 250-seat call centre at Bucharest, Romania, and intend to offer technical engineering, accounting and financial services," Wipro BPO (bussiness process outsourcing) chief T K Kurien said, "the centre will start by the end of the third quarter and will also act as a gateway to Europe, mainly eastern European nations." Wipro has 56,435 employees as of 30 June 2006, which includes 40,496 employees in IT Services business and 15,939 employees in BPO business.
