Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The automobile equipment supplier Harman Becker, specialised in sound systems for automobiles, announced in July 2006 that it will cut 133 jobs in its factory of Château du Loir (Sarthe), where it employs 489 people. The reduction of the jobs, to take place between September and December 2006, results from the difficulties in the sector of the car. There have been rumours that the company would offshore production to Mexico but the CEO has turned them down.
