Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Spanish group Abertis, a leading private transport and communications infrastructure management corporation, will create a large logistical platform located in Castanheira do Ribatejo (municipality of Vila franca de Xira).
This decision resulted from a negotiation between the Portuguese Government and Albertis.
This location option took into account the good accessibilities in terms of roads and railway as well as the proximity of the future airport (at Ota) and of the sea ports. However the choice of this location has been raising some protests especially given the fact that this will occupy a large area of Agricultural Reserve.
With the instalment of this platform 5,000 direct jobs and a few more thousands of indirect jobs will be created.
