Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 6 July 2006 IT-service provider Siemens Business Services (SBS), a subsidiary of the Siemens Group, announced to cut 350 jobs. SBS has a workforce of 12,000 in Germany. The job cuts will affect employees who in the past provided services to the SBS computer-maintenance unit PRS. These jobs will be shed now, sind SBS sold PRS to Fujitsu Siemens Computers, a joint venture of the Siemens Group and Fujitsu.
