Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Johnson Control Schweighouse sur Moder (US Group: Johnson Control) has announced the closure of this company specialist in the erection of roof covering (346 employees; East France) before the end of January 2007. This closure and the loss of 346 jobs is explained by the problems of the group in the automobile sector, which is the 'principal activity' of the group and the one that Johnson Control group considers to be a priority. The group has announced that this activity could be taken again by a new Polish company (already owned by Johnson Controls). The trade unions disputed this decision and a meeting with the management is to be held on 12 July 2006.
