Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On June 15, 2006, the court in Slovenj Gradec adopted a decision to begin the bankruptcy procedure for the furniture producing company Lesna Pohištvo Pameče. The company is part of Lesna Pohištvo and is owned by Skupina Prevent. It has been in trouble for some time now. Last year it suffered severe losses. By Monday, June 19, 2006, 203 employees will receive decisions on their dismissal. Trade union's representative stated that the employees just want everything to be over as soon as possible and to get the dismissal compensation. The management believes that there are still possibilities to proceed with the production of furniture but under different concept and by acquiring a strategic partner.
