Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Imerys Klin Furniture, IKF, part of the Imerys group, whose owners are the Dutch group Pargesa and the French group Albert Frère, has announced the permanent closure of its manufacturing of furniture (tiles). In December 2006, the factory will close and 103 people will lose their jobs because the factory is considered to be 'no profitable'. Only 25 people (sales representatives and technicians) will still have a job in this province. The trade unions have asked that the IKF group propose employment options for each employee within the Imerys Group.
