Ethics in the digital workplace

Founded in 1788, Laperche manufactures locks for buildings and safety locks for entrance doors. It was bought in 1997 by the Swedish-Finnish Assa-Abloy Group. On 8 June 2006 the CEO announced the closure of its single factory (183 jobs) before the end of the year (2006). The reasons given stem from competitiveness issues, more specifically Asian competition. Some employees from Laperche could be offered jobs by other companies of the Assa-Abloy Group, which employs 2,000 people in France.
