Hungarian company Pátria Nyomda Rt. is closing its unit in Dombóvár, Southern Hungary, as a result of which 112 people will be laid off from the end of June. Printing firm Pátria Nyomda, which has another unit in Budapest as well, provides manifold printing services, including the printing of business forms, labels, brochures, etc., and also operates a countrywide retail network. The reasons behind the mass redundancy is the attempt to improve the company's competitiveness and efficiency, in the framework of which the entire production of the Southern Hungarian unit will be moved to the Budapest site, said the Chair of the Board of the company. The termination of production at the Dombóvár unit enables the company to keep jobs in Budapest and a job creation of about 30-40 at that unit. The local government of Dombóvár and the regional employment office have been notified of the dismissals. 10-15 workers are expected to be offered jobs at the Budapest unit but negotiations have been started with the workers council and trade unions about details of the dismissals.
