Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The telecommunications company Elisa outsources its Field operations concerning customer installations to Relacom Oy. The business transfer will take effect as of 1 September 2006.
The outsourcing deal includes an agreement on the partial transfer of Elisa's field operations in the area of customer installations and maintenance to Relacom and will affect Elisa's field operations in the area of customer installations and maintenance in Uusimaa and Häme. In connection with the business transfer, 281 employees will transfer from Elisa to Relacom as established employees: 216 employees in Uusimaa and 65 in Häme.
The companies also signed a letter of intent concerning the transfer of Elisa's PBX installation teams in Uusimaa and Häme to Relacom. The transfer will affect 42 employees in Uusimaa and 17 employees in Häme.
The current outsourcing agreement is part of Elisa's streamlining programme for 2005-2007. The goal is to further enhance the flexibility of Elisa's operations and competitiveness.
Elisa employs total of 4490 employees in Finland.
