The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Atento is a company that belongs to Telefonica Group. Telefonica used to be the telecommunications public company and was privatised in the 1990s. Atento announced on 31 May 2006 the dismissal of 184 employees in Sevilla (Andalucia) before 30 June 2006. According to CCOO, one of the two most important trade unions in Spain, the company is going to offshore these jobs to Latin America. The trade unions have announced a strike for 9 June 2006.
