Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
VB France (US Group Johnson Control) manufactures batteries for vehicles. Before the end of the year 2006 it is expected to cut 109 jobs out of a total of 469 in Sarreguemines (Moselle). An internal audit noted that: the number of employees was too high, the automation was insufficient and the line of goods was considered to be too broad. The management team decided to apply these three recommendations. In this sense, the company will invest EUR 5.4 millions in automation and new processes.
