Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Lithotech France (Dutch group Verdoso BV since April 2006), which employs 550 workers in France in its activities of supplying documents to companies, announced an internal restructuring affecting three of its establishments. All in all, 178 jobs are expected to be lost. 57 jobs will be cut as a result of the closure (before January 2007) of the site of Pont à Mousson (Meurthe and the Moselle). Moreover, 121 further jobs are to be cut in Rognac, Bouches du Rhône & Wavrin, Nord according to trade unions. In any case, after the negotiation of the social plan the CEO mentioned that they were hoping to cut 93 jobs. These job reductions are due to the reduction of the sales turnover by 30% in the last five years.
