Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 19 May 2006, a spokesperson of Kraft Foods, an American producer of food and beverages, stated their aim to cut up to 450 jobs at German production locations. 150 to 200 jobs shall be reduced at the production location in Lörrach and another 250 jobs shall be cut at the production location in Fallingbostel. The reduction of jobs is part of the internal restructuring programme that was already announced in January 2006 by the American headquarter. It was declared then that 8000 jobs all over the world would be cut until the end of 2008.
