Description
On 9 May 2006 Arbo Unie (an organisation specialised in support and implementation of working condition laws e.g. reintegration of disabled workers) announced that it will cut some 580 jobs. According to the CEO Dick van der Laan, the internal restructuring is required by the decrease in sick leave from 6% to below 4% in the last few years. Van der Laan: We are the victim of our own success. Van der Laan also said that about 150 employees face a direct dismissal. A spokesman of Abvakabo FNV (trade union) is surprised because they are still negotiating with the Arbo Unie in order to avoid direct dismissals.
