Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Setforge L'Horme, the French Forging company controlled by Setforge (728 employees), has announced that it will cut 135 jobs from 230 in L'Horme (Loire). 68 jobs are to be transferred. Some employment (administrative of white collars) will be transferred to the holding (Setforge) and other employment will be included in the factories (in: Saone-et-Loire, Puy-de-Dome and Aisne). Furhtermore, the other factories (Saone-et-Loire, Puy-de-Dome and Aisne) will create 51 new jobs in addition in order to develop their productions. The trade unions are not satisfied and requested that contacts be made with other companies (outside of the group, but localised in L'Horme) so that the employees losing their jobs at Setforge could still have employment opportunities in L'Horme.
