Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Otor, the French packaging company controlled by the US investment firm Carlyle, has announced that it will cut 114 jobs from 274 in total at its paper plant in Rouen. The company says the production site in question registered losses of EUR 20,000,000 in 2005, for a turnover of EUR 89,000,000. It has apparently been suffering the effects of soaring energy prices and reduced corrugated packaging prices.
