Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The technology company, Nexans, has announced the closure of its plant in Opglabbeek. 128 people will be made redundant. Nexans is a manufacturer of cables for the telecom sector (ADSL connection cables etc.)
According to the management, the closure is due to the slow down in demand for this type of product and fierce competition from low labour cost countries.
