Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Siemens Communications, which already did shed 1,500 jobs in 2005/2006, announced to cut another 1,000 jobs in Germany. Further job cuts in 2006/2007 will predominately affect blue collar workers at the assembly lines and in maintenance.
Additionaly, a yet unknown number of jobs in adminstration, distribution and development will be affected by further jobs cuts following the merger of Information and Communication Mobile (Siemens ICM) and Information and Communication Network (Siemens ICN).
Siemens Business Services (Siemens SBS) continues its programme to cut 2,400 jobs in Germany and 3,000 internationally.
