Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The German company Haering Polska is expanding its precision mechanics facility in Piotrków Trybunalski, in the Łódź Special Economic Area; towards this end, it will increase employment from the current level of 430 to 700. The Piotrków Trybunalski plant makes precision components for the automobile industry. On 19 September 2006, Haering Polska, the manufacturer of metal parts for the automotive industry, announced plans to invest around 100 million PLN in its plant in Piotrków Trybunalski and to increase employment by 150 people. According to the latest information Haering has invested 52 million EUR in the plant in Piotrków Trybunalski so far, where 540 people are employed. In the coming years the company plans to increase its workforce to 1,000. During the next five years the following projects are planned: hardening shop, electroplating plant and laser welding shop. The additional investment in Piotrków will amount to 120 million EUR. According to the information of 21.05.2007. the employment level in the company located in Piotrków Trybunalski has increased already from 540 people in 2006 to 670 people in May 2007.
