Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Following the aquisition of sea transport company CP Ships, the shipping company Hapag-Lloyd announced that between 2,000 and 5,000 jobs would be reduced at CP Ships worldwide. The 200 jobs of CP Ships in Germany, however, remain and 100 more jobs will be created at the company's headquarter in Hamburg. Hapag-Lloyd currently employs 4,000 people worldwide and it is expecting to have a workforce of 7,000 employees in the future (including the employees of CP Ships).
