Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Arcont is the largest producer of residential (office, sanitary) cabins in Europe. The company is majority owned by Austrian company Containex. Constant growth of production and sales of Arcont is to a great extent due to the efforts of the parent company, which is responsible for the marketing. 96.5% of production is exported. In 2006, Arcont plans to increase its production by 20% and in 2007 by another 18%. This requires investment in new production facilities. This will also increase the number of employees from 415 at the beginning 2006 to 520-530 by the end of 2006. According to the latest report from February 2 2007, the number of employees in Acront increased by 200 people in 2006 and now amounts to 615. This is a result of considerable new investments realised in 2006, when new varnishing, production and warehousing capacities have been put into operation. As a result, the physical volume of production increased by 21% in 2006.
