Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Mazurskie Meble, a furniture producer owned by Schieder of Germany, has decided to shut down its factory in Olsztyn, resulting in the loss of 130 jobs. Mazurskie Meble exported no less than 85% of its products, and the strong złoty has led to a considerable drop in its revenues. Mazurskie Meble operates 12 more factories around Poland, and there looms the danger that these may likewise be shut down, leaving 4000 people out of work.
